Mailing Day Pt. 1

Yesterday I went to the post office to get a Priority Mail box to pack my From My Heart Exchange in and to get the stamps to then take home and glue upon my Surprise Me MailArt. So today everything is ready to be mailed off and I'll be off to the post office again this morning. I'm not happy with the closure for my envelope. I mistakingly neglected to leave myself much room to attach what I wanted to do. Grr.

Last night I stitched on my Mermaids for all of 1/2 an hour before packing it in for the night. My thimble finger was wounded and it made for very uncomfortable/awkward stitching. Between winter dryness and the needle pushing, my poor finger has seen better days. In fact I went to the nail salon and the lady asked me what had happened and I felt pretty dumb explaining that I hurt it stitching!

I've been searching for more freebies and managed upon this site which has a lot of beautiful pieces including a big list of just biscornu designs. Here are links to the 'heart' themed ones. *the links go through Babelfish for translation, let me know if they don't work!*

I was tagged by Heather so here are 6 weird things about me:
1. Changes from routine make me panic.
2. I will take the long way home if I think the drive will be easier (ie less traffic, slower speeds)
3. People usually don't like me when they meet me because I'm shy and it comes across as snobby.
4. I hate being late so I have all the clocks in my house and car set 15 minutes fast.
5. When I lived in Louisiana, I started speaking with a drawl so I 'get' how Madonna speaks with a slight English accent now.
6. I emphasize with people really well. I am really good at playing 'devils advocate'--- a trait DH hates.

Thank You Tobie!

I was so excited when the mailman pulled into the driveway with a big box of goodies for me! I was totally spoiled by Tobie for the From My Heart Exchange (US Exchange Board)! Isn't my heart gorgeous? Can you see all the beaded trim sparkling at the bottom? It is just beautiful!

And as if the stitched piece weren't enough she included, wow, just tons of goodies. Delicious heart fabric, note pads, stickers, a yummy heart shaped tin of chocolates, a L*K chart that is definitely going on my February stitch list... Not pictured are the lovely pink grosgrain ribbons she tied up the parcels with as my girls have decided they are to be tomorrows hair bows!

I love everything! Thank you so much--- it was just the perfect! (Today has been a really long day!)

January Ornament for SAL

From Prairie Schooler's Old World Santas Leaflet
On 28ct Toasted Almond Cashel Linen
Finished Jan., 28 2007 for Christmas Ornament SAL

I finally have some stitching to show! This weekend was crazy and I honestly didn't think that I would make the SAL for January (check out the other ones that were stitched). Saturday we had an all day Girl Scouting activity which the girls loved but was very exhausting for Mommy. So I committed myself to a stitch-a-thon on Sunday and started and finished this little guy. I tried to find a retail link to the Old World Santa leaflet but I had no luck finding it anywhere other than eBay. I let Amanda pick the design she liked out of the book and there you have it. I'm going to stitch at least two more Santas out of the book so I have decided to save the finishing until they are all done.

Thank you for all the well wishes and comments on the fabric I purchased. I really appreciate them and I feel much better.

I have 3 exchanges due to be mailed out by Wednesday! Technically, two due by Wednesday and one a little later in February. I finished my From My Heart exchange piece late last week. And I made my own cording for it. I used my daughter's Hair Braider which doesn't actually braid, but twists hair into cording. The Surprise Me MA has been almost done for awhile. I just need to stitch the return address and sew the envelope up on the machine. I've also almost finished my heart design for my Valentine MA.

Oh, one more thing! We're all set up with a blog and rolling along with the Neighborhood RR! So excited, I can't even tell you. The first mailing deadline is June 1st :)

Crunch Time

I've been fighting off some fatigue lately that's been keeping me from getting much stitching done. It seems like I can't stay awake much past 9:30, no matter how hard I try. I've been getting plenty of sleep, but am yawning all day. I dunno, maybe it's the weather? Maybe the addition of extra children during the day sucking the life out of me? Maybe DH being far away at training during the day instead of around the corner? Whatever it is, I haven't gotten anything done and have gotten very far off schedule. My goal was to have all exchanges that are due out early next week finished by Friday so that I could do the first Ornament SAL this weekend. I still hope to get them done, fingers crossed!

I managed to catch up on reading the blogs this morning. Wow, there was a lot. You guys are busy bees! I also ordered my fabric for the Neighborhood RR that is starting up late spring from Silkweaver. Silkweaver, BTW, updated their Odd's & Ends page to include tons of Country French FQs. The fabric I picked is a 32ct Lugana called Days Gone By from their Expressions line. I really hope I like the fabric because my goodness, it cost a lot of money. I guess if I hate it, I can always go to my LNS and pick out something else!

Full of Pinkness

This is the design I've finally settled on for my Valentine MailArt. The recipient doesn't read my blog to my knowledge so I think it's safe to post. The design is a freebie I previously linked to called the From My Heart Mini Sampler. It took me about an hour to do this much and it was a fun quick stitch--- obviously not finished and it could be the worst, blurriest picture ever! I'm stitching it on 28ct Honeysuckle Pink Jobelan.

Yesterday is all a blur to me. The kids were basically on and off driving each other and me crazy all day. I did manage to get out to drop the little ones at preschool and did a trip to the grocery store. Then I made a huge Baked Ziti dinner which I now feel really guilty for because it was serious carb overload. Last night was also 24 night and I think, although I'm not sure, I missed the ending of the show because I fell asleep. :(

Just a quick update today, I have a lot of blog reading to catch up on.

Snow, Finally!

I didn't get much done in the stitching world although I had planned to stitch all weekend. Friday night we had DH's friend over, Saturday night we went to SILs house for a birthday party for MIL, and last night we were at my mom's for a birthday dinner for my sister.

All week the weather men (who are always wrong so I'm not surprised) said we would get a little snow yesterday, but not to worry because it wouldn't be a lot. By yesterday morning the forecast had changed from a dusting in my area, to maybe 3 inches. Doesn't sound like a lot, but where I live that is enough to cause mass chaos. It started snowing at noon and my ex called me to ask if we could meet up early to pick up my DD from him to avoid the messy snow. Long story short it was the scariest drive for me ever. It took 3 hours and 45 mins to drive the 40 min trip. I was almost hit, had to navigate around 3 closed roads (main roads, mind you!). Anyway, yesterday was not a fun day for me!

Who was it saying I couldn't wait for snow? Oh, yeah, that was me! lol! The picture is the view from my front door. Doesn't look like much, does it?

I don't have any pictures to share today, but I ha...

I don't have any pictures to share today, but I have been stitching. I've been working on putting together exchange pieces. Fun, but doesn't make for good blogging! I'm still amazingly on track to finish on schedule.

Wednesday I took an hour and went shopping at my LNS. The lady a the store kept asking my if I needed any help and I had to say I was browsing at least ten times. Of course I was browsing, I had to see all the beautiful patterns in real life. I was checking out designers of 'house' patterns for the Neighborhood RR, which isn't going to really get going until May or June. I did buy threads for Drawn Thread's Game Board, the rest of the PS Old World Santa's DMC's for the Ornament SAL next weekend and a few exchange goodies as well. That was really a treat for me! :) Although as I was browsing I kept thinking I could get stuff cheaper online.

Everything has been going really surprisingly well this week with all the extra kids. They have all been great. :) And Carol, my friends all call me Cindy. I just started picking up the nicknames (nicknames for my nickname!) after my marriage to DH. Almost everyone in his family has a nickname for some reason.
